I'M JUST A GUY
To start, I want you to know who I am not. What I mean by that is I am not wealthy, famous, or really accomplished in any outstanding way. In other words, if you google my name, you probably won't find me. I'm just an average guy. That being said, my name is Jim Simpson. I AM, a husband and a father, middle aged and very

To start, I want you to know who I am not. What I mean by that is I am not wealthy, famous, or really accomplished in any outstanding way. In other words, if you google my name, you probably won't find me. I'm just an average guy. That being said, my name is Jim Simpson. I AM, a husband and a father, middle aged and very capable of growing an admirable beard (so I'm told). I have a full time job, more bills than I care for, and am still striving for that elusive state of "getting ahead". I am also a very deeply spiritual seeker and have been all my life. I embraced Christianity as a teenager and spent 30 years pursuing deeply entrenched in the evangelical church. To be honest, the church was my life. In the last 4 years since leaving the church , my journey has shifted dramatically. I'm still a spiritual person, still a seeker, still very much a person of faith in God and Jesus; but my understanding of everything I thought I knew has been, and is being, challenged. This is a good thing. Difficult, but good. What I do know is that there is the WAY, and my purpose is, and has always been, to follow that Way. Welcome as I share my journey of faith deconstruction in hopes that it will help you and others on this same journey of following the WAY!
YOU ARE NOT ALONE
I have reasoned that my work/insight might not be necessary. There is so much out there that can be read and heard, does the world need another voice saying the same things. After years of this consideration, the answer is YES. Perhaps I'm not able to offer any new insight or original ideas, but there is so much I hav

I have reasoned that my work/insight might not be necessary. There is so much out there that can be read and heard, does the world need another voice saying the same things. After years of this consideration, the answer is YES. Perhaps I'm not able to offer any new insight or original ideas, but there is so much I have learned that I did not know before, and I believe more people need to talk and share. Some truths are hidden in plain sight but lie in the shadows, so the more light that is shed, the more others will be able to see.
A term that many use to describe this process is DECONSTRUCTION. I find deconstruction a useful way to relate with my experience as my beliefs, dogmas, worldviews and opinions have either been expanded, adjusted, or just flat out changed. In many ways, I cannot fully articulate where I am or what I think at this point in my journey. But the process of faith deconstruction allows for RECONSTRUCTION for being better, more pure (whatever that means). I know there are many of you out there that feel the same. You might still be very much a part of your church, but you know you're just going through the motions not even knowing why you go at all. You are not alone. Maybe you've already stepped away from or are leaving the church and are having a hard time figuring out what is next. You are not alone. Or, you've never belonged to a church, but you know there is something bigger out there behind what we can see and experience and you want to know what it is. You are not alone. Also, for those who are very comfortable in their church/faith practices, and you're just curious of what is going through the mind of someone who has intentionally stepped away from those traditions, you are very welcome. I have many that are still loving and supporting though they disagree with my decisions about such things, and they ask questions. I'm happy to answer. We don't have to agree to love and be human to each other. That being said, I realize this is my journey and everyone has their own. I do not expect anyone to be anywhere except where they are. My hope that sharing my journey will help you on yours as we all follow the Way.

A blog, my reading list, possibly a podcast, etc. that cover a wide range of topics that I have experienced as I travel along the Way Journey. I will share insights I've been given; personal experiences of challenges and triumphs and observations as they unfold. I want to share what I am studying, reading, learning and practicing. I expect one might be surprised at the range this would cover as I may share wisdom from Oswald Chambers to Paramahansa Yogananda, or from David Goggins to the ancient stoic philosophers. I still hold the Bible as very important and valuable. In fact, I consider it as the foundation of my life, but I will also read and share wisdom from other texts such as the Bhagavad Gita. This does not mean I necessarily believe or agree with all I read or come across, but to me, it's kind of like mining for gold or diamonds, one usually has to sift through much that will be discarded to find what is most valuable. After all, is it so bad if you find other valuable materials as well? Simply put, my desire is to seek any and all wisdom/truth to be the best human I can be and live the best possible life as intended by the Creator. I hope that as I share my journey of following the Way, I can offer something that will help you on your journey as well.
My journey of seeking a deeper spiritual experience has led to more questions than answers. If you can relate, let's explore them together.
